Trail Post Installation

Material for McCormick Forest Park trail posts had been donated by Home Depot and letters routed into them by Peter Bovard. Eric Guenther and Vernon Young painted them and attached blocks to the bottom of the posts. Marcus Rovira volunteered to install the posts as an Eagle Scout project.

On July 21 st, 2004, Marcus along with Mr. Cooper and several other adults and young men met with Vernon to learn the basics and logistics of installing the posts and 11 posts were set in the ground.

On July 24 th, at 7 am, Marcus and a large crew of people showed up to install the remaining 9 posts which were a considerable distance into the woods. All the equipment and posts needed to be hauled in by hand.

The holes were dug with a power post-hole digger donated by Home Depot. With adult supervision, the young men filled in around the posts and tamped them solidly into place. Several young women stapled plasticized maps to the side of the posts. By 9 am most of the work had been finished.

Thank you for a job well done.
